Client Testimonial

"My organization has utilized these resources to help train, follow up and assess our new hire and potential new hire candidates. The assessment specialist’s review of our process has been spot on and I value their ability to help us see what we need to be looking for in our candidates. They helped us relook at possible candidates from a perspective that we may have missed and made a mistake in hiring or not hiring candidates into our organization. I contribute their ability to assist me and my team in attracting and training one of the best teams available in our industry.”

An assessment is nothing more than a tool or series of processes used to discover what is not always visible to the human eye. Some instruments measure traits that are obvious to others such as one’s behavior or personality. Others dig deeper to uncover internal motivators or one’s viewpoints of the world and oneself.

As many of you already know, assessment tools alone are ineffective without ensuring they are not only interpreted by a specialist, but more importantly they are aligned with your overall business objectives. Choosing the wrong assessment instruments or the wrong specialist will result in overall disappointment with regard to accurately assessing talent in your organization.

At Meaningful Development we take our years of experience in interpreting these tools and assist you and your organization with your hiring, development, and role/position benchmarking needs.

Evaluating and Assessing Hiring Risks

Imagine if you could be told the truth about a potential hire, not the truth they want you to see in the interview then ask yourself:

  • How beneficial would it be to know the good, the bad and any potential pitfalls before I hire a potential candidate?
  • How many times have I hired someone with great intentions only to have to let them go because the person they showed me in the interview miraculously faded away months after being on the job?
  • Because I am hiring based on what I can see how much is it costing in turnover?
  • How do I know if a sales professional actually understands the complex consultative sales process or is just exhibiting behaviors based on their perception of what I am looking for?
  • Is the candidate I am evaluating actually capable of doing the job?
  • Is the pool of applicant’s motivators in alignment with how they will be rewarded on the job?
  • Why do some employees act very different under stress and pressure and how valuable would that be to know in advance BEFORE making a hiring decision?

Meaningful Development’s assessment tools and processes uncover the behavioral tendencies, internal motivations for performance and necessary core competencies that will impact and influence ones achievement.

We invite you to become better informed, reduce turnover, and begin to hire people that are a cultural fit and have the capacity to do the job you are asking them to actually perform. Our assessment process ensures your candidate is a true fit for the role BEFORE you bring them on board.

Development: Individual, Team and Organizational

Assessments are most commonly associated with being used for personal or professional development. This is because they either uncover a hidden trait or validate what the individual already sees in themselves. Most often, this is related to behavioral traits such as one being an extrovert or introvert. While certainly useful and insightful, there is so much more that can be uncovered!

Imagine a tool providing you or your manager insightful information including:

  • What motivates someone to perform at a higher level? Is their motivation in alignment with how the organization, manager or culture is going to reward them?
  • Why are some folks resistant to cold-calling while others seem to have no difficulty?
  • Some of my team is sensitive to rejection and have a tendency to shut down when working in a negative situation or environment – why?
  • Why do I feel like I don’t fit in or why do some employees fit in better than others?
  • Are you aware of your tendency to struggle with “saying no.”
  • Perhaps you would find it helpful to know that your clarity about the future is low and in need of growth or that you would benefit from developing skills surrounding processes and systems.
  • Are you or a colleague harboring negative feelings unnecessarily? Where are they right now?
  • Why does my behavior make a sudden shift when engaging in conflict – why is that different than how someone else handles a conflicting situation?

These are just a few examples of competencies that can be uncovered and our Certified Assessment Counselors will assist each individual taking this information and formulating a plan of action for healthy self- improvement and growth. The basic premise is, “knowledge = power”?

Role/Position Benchmarking:

If the job could talk, it would identify the talent it needs

For organizations that wish to create an “ideal role” for a particular position in order to measure up against, Meaningful Development's company benchmarking process is incredibly beneficial. In this process a group of decision makers from a variety of positions throughout the organization gather to brainstorm about “what makes someone in this role successful”.  These individuals then gather to discuss their views as to why the job is in existence and what a successful application of the role is.

Sampling of questions:

  • What are successful people on the job doing?
  • What are some ideal characteristics of someone in this role?
  • What behaviors are currently being exhibited by those who are failing in this role?

At the end of this brainstorming session, we as facilitators help the group determine a core set of characteristics of the "ideal role." This collection of characteristics is then used to create a benchmark for the role.

Finally, this benchmark is measured against current employees and potential candidates to assist the decision makers in their hiring and development decisions. The feedback provided allows the decision makers to have futher information about each individual and where they fit and fail in comparison to the "ideal role."

Benefits of Benchmarking:

  • You have collaborative feedback about the role instead of an individual opinion.
  • When it is time to create a job description, you have a clear outline of what is needed in the role.
  • When you hire a team that fits the job you have happier and productive team members. This means that success increases for everyone!
